- Shy's father used to be a reggae singer called Honey Boy, and Shy was know as Honey Boy Jnr when he was growing up.
- Shy trained as a sound engineer, one of his college work placements was with the legendary reggae dub producer Mad Professor at Ariwa Records.
- In the early 90's Shy worked at legendary D&B record label SOUR, which is where he met T Power, they didn't like each other when they first met!
- Shy released the seminal 'Original Nuttah' feat UK Apache in 1994 when he was only 17, he wore a pink shirt in the video!
- Funkindemup was the first release in 1995 on Shy's own record label - Ebony.
