There was a lot of bad disco, but some singers produced quality soul/RnB in this era. Classics such as Thinking of You and We Are Family proved Sister Sledge's worth.
The four sisters - Debra, Kim, Kathy and Joni epitomise the shiny, lycra people of the 70s/80s.
Rainbow sequinned boobtubes, pink lycra leggings, denim, embroidery on denim, gold lamé, hotpants, lip gloss and side-ponytails - the roller disco had arrived and the Sisters were doing spins in the middle.
They also did the more sophisticated look with satin or silk draped dresses, angel sleeves (like flares, but in the sleeves), big wavy hair and plenty of glittery eye shadow.
