THE FORTH BRIDGE (1889)

Taken by an unknown photographer, this photograph shows the Forth Bridge as it nears completion at the beginning of 1889. The bridge took seven years to build and, at the time, was the largest steel bridge in the world. It is still regarded as an engineering marvel.
