Trickbaby flit around the periphery of musical classification. An East/West sound-scape nurtures a melting-pot of dance-beats, tabla, sitar and dreamy vocals. Influenced by everything from modern pop to Bollywood classics, Trickbaby give Indian classical instrumentation a wholly original and contemporary sound.
Headed by vocalist Saira Hussain and guitarist Steve Ager, Trickbaby was born from a chance studio session and the recording of 'Indi Yard'. The tune exploded on to the radio, reaching No. 46 in the British charts. It was the first Hindi language single to be playlisted at Â鶹Éç Radio One and was voted record of the week on their Breakfast Show.
Following massive media support for their next track 'Neelaa', Trickbaby created their own label, Chachaman and released their debut album Hanging Around, from which the ethereal 'Nine Parts of Desire' is taken.
The compilation album Asian Beat Bazaar was devised and compiled by the band. Trickbaby have also had tracks used in the Bollywood movie Hyderabad Blues 2. They were recently profiled on Â鶹Éç Two's Desi DNA and previously on the Â鶹Éç's Network East and Mega Mela Malai.
Trickbaby are currently recording their second album due for release this summer.
