Great Britain 3 - 1 Poland

See the video report of the hockey friendly between Great Britain and Poland at the grounds of Reading Hockey Club on Friday 8 February 2008.

Watch the video report by 麻豆社 Sport Online's Oliver Williams:

Reading hockey club played host to the Great Britain and Poland national sides for a warm-up friendly before crunch Olympic qualifiers next month.

GB, with three Reading stars in the squad, need to win their Olympic qualifying tournament in Chile to reach this summer's Beijing Games.

The team will be up against top sides like India, but if they fail to finish first their Olympic dream will be over for another four years.

GB prepared in the best possible fashion for the task ahead with a comfortable win over the Polish at Sonning Lane.

Reading boy Jonty Clarke opened the scoring with a cool finish after a Barry Middleton interception set up a fluid British counter-attack. Clarke's team-mates at Reading, brothers Richard and Simon Mantell, were both rested.

Poland equalised before the break but second half goals from Ashley Jackson and Niall Stott sealed the win.

GB took their momentum from that victory into a second behind-closed-doors friendly at the Bisham Abbey training complex the following day, demolishing the Poles 6-0.

The Olympic qualifying tournament in Chile begins on Saturday听 1 March.
