On air: Should national symbols be protected?
A Frenchman has kicked up quite a fuss in his own country after being photographed using the French flag to wipe his bottom. This is the best picture we are allowed to use but if you you can see a better image. The French Justice Minister wants the man . Attention was drawn to the image after it was displayed in a competition and won a special mention in the "politically incorrect" category.
A Deputy from President Nicolas Sarkozy's UMP party has deemed the image "offensive" and called for an investigation.
On the show we're talking about people attacking their own country's national symbols. Is the image offensive? Should national symbols have special protection or are they nothing more than symbols. Is it a direct attack on your country and unpatriotic? Or if it's your flag should you be able to do anything you like with it?
And if you're English - Happy St George's Day ....how would you feel if someone did this to your flag?
