Q: Give us a potted history of your life..

A: I was born in London to an Irish father and a Scottish mother, and spent a lot of my childhood in both countries, hence the accent!

My formative years were spent mainly in Northern Ireland at a time when the place was torn apart, which at times was stressful. Thankfully, it's a much changed place now.

I worked in radio in Northern Ireland before going to university in Manchester, and from there worked in commercial radio in the north of England, then on stations in Kent and Sussex. I most recently worked for 麻豆社 Radio Kent before joining 麻豆社 Radio Cambridgeshire.

I got married to Richard last year.听We live in a cottage undergoing much renovation just over the border in north Hertfordshire with two cats.

Q: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A: Well, I started off wanting to be a librarian (seriously).听I was a very bookish child, and used to be at the local library every day after school.听They used to have to order in books from other branches because I'd exhausted the children's section!

At other times in my childhood, I wanted to be an actress, policewoman, then a journalist - which I suppose is the nearest to what I've actually become.

Q: What's the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to you?

A: Walking into a mirror in a shop and apologising to my own reflection.听 I was daydreaming at the time...

I've also walked out on stage with my dress tucked into my knickers during an amateur dramatics production.

Q: What's the worst job you've ever had?

A: Not the worst, but perhaps the one I really ought to own up to is making background 'musak' tapes for shops when I was a student.听I've worked in lots of shops and had a great time as a Saturday girl in Woolworths.

Q: Do you have a catchphrase?

A: Yes - 'Never Say Never'.

Q: What was the first record you ever bought?

A: Deacon Blue's album 'Raintown'.听And it was the first album I ever bought on CD when I was replacing my vinyl collection. I came to music quite late!

Q: What's your favourite food?

A: Chinese or Thai. But a roast chicken dinner comes a close second.

Q:听When Hollywood comes calling, who'll play you?

A: Meg Ryan.

Q: In a fire, what would you rescue first?

A: My wedding dress. It was designed and made by a dear friend and I'd hate to lose it. I could replace the photos, but not the frock...

Q: What do you do to relax?

A: I love baking.听Trying out a new recipe gives a great feeling of satisfaction, and I've recently started making my own soft furnishings.听I'm still an avid reader of all kinds of literature - travel writing is a particular favourite.听I like keeping fit too, so I'm a regular at my local gym.
