Complaint

A listener complained that a headline which said 鈥淧resident Trump and President Zelensky trade insults over the war in Ukraine as their relationship worsens鈥 misrepresented the reality, maintaining that the US had been guilty of 鈥渓ies deceit, horrific personal and political insults鈥 whereas Ukraine鈥檚 leader had only made 鈥渕easured non-personal comments鈥 in support of his country.   The ECU considered the complaint against the standards for accuracy set out in the 麻豆社 Editorial Guidelines.

Outcome

The ECU agreed, given the nature of the conversation between Presidents Trump and Zelensky, that the headline might have been better-phrased, but considered the detailed account of events in the subsequent bulletin were sufficient to ensure listeners would not have been materially misled about the nature of the exchanges.
