Complaint

Two viewers complained the programme misleadingly suggested Lucy Letby was alone when one of the babies in her care collapsed.  The ECU considered the complaints against the standards for accuracy set out in the Â鶹Éç Editorial Guidelines.

Outcome

The programme relied on testimony given in court to give an account of the final hours of Child C.  In the ECU’s view the evidence of the other nurses involved at the time supported the claim that Lucy Letby was alone with Child C when he collapsed.  The complainants’ argument about what may have occurred was consistent with the case presented by Lucy Letby’s defence.  But that case was not accepted, and was in conflict with the sworn evidence of two nurses present that day.
