Complaint
A viewer complained this programme failed to address key failings in the case against Lucy Letby including the 鈥渕assaging of statistics鈥 and the writings of Ms Letby herself. The ECU considered whether it met the standards for impartiality set out in the 麻豆社 Editorial Guidelines.
Outcome
This was the third programme which Panorama had produced on Ms Letby and the ECU noted an earlier programme entitled Lucy Letby: The Nurse who Killed had reviewed the writings which featured in the case against her. The ECU鈥檚 responsibility in relation to editorial complaints is limited, however, to the content of what is broadcast or published, rather than what might have been included in a programme. The fact the complainant considered other matters could or should have been emphasized or revisited did not amount to a breach of the Guidelines.
