Complaint
A viewer complained a contributor inaccurately stated 10 million working-age British people were on out-of-work benefits. The ECU assessed whether the programme had had met the 麻豆社鈥檚 editorial standards in relation to accuracy.
Outcome
Although Department of Work and Pensions statistics refer to 9.9 million of people of working age claiming from a range of benefits, some of those benefits are available to those in work. However, the ECU noted the original assertion was challenged by another guest and by the presenter. On that basis it was clear to viewers that the original statement had been corrected, and listeners were not left with a misleading impression.
