Complaint

The programme included an interview with Richard Tice MP, the Deputy Leader of Reform UK.  A listener complained it was conducted in a manner which showed bias against Mr Tice by posing unanswerable questions and twisting his responses to create a distorted picture.  The ECU considered the complaint in the light of the 麻豆社鈥檚 editorial standards of impartiality.

Outcome

Today is a programme on which politicians can expect thorough and robust questioning, and an interviewer鈥檚 challenges to the positions a politician may set out are not to be confused with expressions of personal opinion.  The ECU found the conduct of the interview to be in keeping with those expectations and considered Mr Tice had fair opportunity to respond in his own terms to the questions put to him.
