Can I access �鶹�� Bitesize material outside the UK?

�鶹�� Bitesize online is accessible internationally, but all games, audio-video and animated content are geolocked to the UK.

This protects the value of the service for UK licence fee payers, and will help ensure that international visitors are not confused by content which is inappropriate to their local curriculum.

Where can I find �鶹�� World Service radio?

In the UK, �鶹�� World Service radio in English is available on DAB, online, mobile and on all digital TV platforms. Across Western Europe, �鶹�� World Service radio in English is available via internet radio, mobile, online and on satellite TV. This is in addition to overnight transmissions of �鶹�� World Service on �鶹�� Radio 4 frequencies.

You can also listen to the �鶹�� World Service radio on �鶹�� Sounds.

The channel numbers for �鶹�� World Service on the different digital TV platforms are as follows:

How do I use the Red Button?

Simply press the red button on your remote control at any time. Sometimes you will be prompted to press the red button by an announcement in a programme or a red button logo appearing in the top right-hand corner of your TV screen.

The �鶹��'s Red Button service allows you to access additional television programming, live coverage from major sporting and cultural events, sports scores, lottery and weather information as well as the latest breaking national and global news stories. It's available with any digital service, though the type and number of features vary according to whether you have digital terrestrial, satellite, cable or broadband. Most of the interactive features currently available are provided by the �鶹��, Sky and the cable companies. A few other broadcasters, including ITV, offer a limited range.

The Red Button graphic can be removed from your screen by one simple action, dependent on the platform you are watching on:

Sky - Press the BACK UP button
Virgin Media - Press the BLUE button
Freeview - Press the BACK or GREEN buttons
Freesat - Press the BACK or GREEN buttons

What is �鶹�� account?

�鶹�� account is the sign-in system for the �鶹�� website. Having a �鶹�� account lets you watch and listen to programmes on �鶹�� iPlayer and �鶹�� Sounds, comment on articles, add favourites, play games, write reviews, save recipes and lots more!

Signing in is quick, free and easy and you should stay signed in for two years on each web browser or app. Sign in isn’t required to watch children’s content through your web browser. Visit �鶹�� account help for support with registering and signing in.

We share some of your personal information with TV Licensing to check if you are using �鶹�� iPlayer and to keep their database up to date. You can read more about how we use your information on our Using the �鶹�� website.

Why are the �鶹�� websites different outside the UK?

We have different versions of some sections of the �鶹�� website for UK and international audiences. Specifically, we have the UK and international versions of the �鶹�� homepage, News and Sport front pages, and the pages for �鶹�� TV and radio programmes.

Why are there different versions of the websites?

We have an unusual requirement when it comes to developing �鶹�� websites: they carry advertising internationally (so that UK licence fee payers don't cover international costs) but not in the UK, and we have to build and design for both these situations simultaneously.

Some content on our sites is available in the UK but not internationally; notably, certain rights restricted video. In order to ensure that people in the UK do not see advertising we have to use GeoIP.

Why are you using GeoIP?

Without it, we don't know where ads should be visible and where they shouldn't. The same applies to video and other rights restricted content. Generally, GeoIP to determine country is reliable, but there are some occasions where it doesn't work properly and these we have to address case by case with our GeoIP provider.

All articles are still available wherever you are in the world, but some of the key pages, such as the News homepage, show a more internationally focused range of headlines.

Where can I find regional news and weather content from the UK?

International users who wish to see local UK news can enter a postcode in the Local News tab of the UK News page to add regional headlines and weather to their UK News page. This page will remember the preference you set, or you can change the postcode selection to see updates from different parts of the country. A new version of �鶹��.com is currently being rolled out, for more information see Why has the �鶹��.com site changed?

The �鶹�� Weather pages allow you to search for a town in the UK by name or postcode and to set the location as a default forecast.
Where can I find the international news in the UK?

The World News page on the UK site offers a global view of international events and breaking news, as well as subsections containing news from various world regions. Users in the UK will still be able to access those, and we will continue to reflect international news as part of our overall front page coverage on the UK version of the site.
Why am I incorrectly recognised as outside the UK when using my mobile browser?

Some mobile browsers route data outside the UK when their data reduction features are enabled. If you have an Android or iOS device and are using Chrome 30.0 or above you'll need to disable the Reduce Data Usage option. To do this go to browser settings, select Bandwidth Management and turn off Reduce Data Usage. Another option would be to use another browser or a �鶹�� app. If you're using an Opera browser, you'll need to disable Off-Road Mode in browser settings or use another browser.

Yes it is. You can check the email address that the email was sent from, which should be bbcaccount@bbc.co.uk

If you’d like to keep your account active, there’s a link within the email to allow you to sign in again, or if you’d prefer not to click on an email link, you can sign in directly at bbc.co.uk/stay
