Darwin, My Ancestor

This four-part weekly series brings a uniquely personal touch to the Season, as Darwin's great-great-granddaughter, the writer Ruth Padel, embarks on a quest to explore four aspects underlying her ancestor's genius.

Each programme takes one central theme and uses interviews from a wide range of experts and descendants of Darwin, readings from his letters and diaries, recordings made on location at Darwin's Down House home and music to evoke a portrait in sound and script.
