Sands is in the South Hams in South Devon, and is a lovely cove at
the northern end of Start Bay.
Further up the coast is Dartmouth, and south is Slapton.
The beach is sand and shingle, and facilities include windsurfing,
canoeing and sailing.
There is a café/restaurant, toilets, disabled visitors' facilities,
disabled access to the beach, and a slipway.
First aid is available, together with a lost child centre.
The beach has a dog restricted area, and a place for moored bathing
rafts. There is also a pay car park.
The beach is two thirds of a mile long and is flanked by steep, wooded
cliffs.
This is one of the very best beaches in Devon and is popular with
families.
How to get to Blackpool Sands: It is signposted from Dartmouth
on the A379 between Stoke Fleming and Strete.
