About this Concert

Described by composer Sir James MacMillan as 鈥渙ne of the most astonishing and surprising young newcomers in Scottish music,鈥� Glasgow-born accordionist and 麻豆社 Radio 3 New Generation Artist (2022-24) Ryan Corbett is redefining expectations of his instrument. And in a concerto written especially for him, fellow Scot Jay Capperauld鈥攑raised for his 鈥渦nbridled sonic imagination鈥� (The Scotsman)鈥攃hannels the crackling energy of electricity into music that dazzles.

On the podium is the dynamic Finnish conductor Emilia Hoving, who conducts music full of hope by fellow Finn Outi Tarkainen, and Prokofiev鈥檚 emotionally charged Romeo and Juliet鈥攁 score that grips the heart and never lets go.
