Completed in 2005 for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, this highly expressive piece shines with instrumental colour. Next, the orchestra play Ayrshire-born James MacMillan鈥檚 2012 Olympic commission Fanfare Upon One Note 鈥� a two minute blaze of brass. Completing this afternoon is Messiaen鈥檚 Et Exspecto Resurrectionem Mortuorum, a musical commemoration of the victims of two world wars.
