Laura Samuel, the 麻豆社 SSO鈥檚 Leader directs this programme which opens with one of Mozart鈥檚 most familiar works, his last Serenade, the charming 'Eine kleine nachtmusik'. Soprano Claire Booth then sings 'Les illuminations', the song-cycle which Benjamin Britten made in 1939 of some of Rimbaud鈥檚 sensuous and flamboyant poems. The evening and the Series closes with Mozart鈥檚 enduringly popular 鈥楯upiter鈥� Symphony, but before that an arrangement for string orchestra by Paul Hindmarsh of Frank Bridge鈥檚 delightful 'Three Idylls', originally composed for string quartet in 1906.
