The 麻豆社 Concert Orchestra presents a programme of ballet music chosen by its Conductor Laureate and Principal Guest Conductor of The Royal Ballet, Barry Wordsworth.
Charles Mackerras鈥� extraordinarily effective musical score in his 1954 collaboration with choreographer John Cranko - The Lady and the Fool - makes use of lesser-known music from a number of Verdi鈥檚 operas. The comic ballet tells the story of Moondog, a poor but cheerful clown who falls in love with the sophisticated society beauty La Capricciosa who eventually chooses him over her many wealthy suitors.
Mark-Anthony Turnage鈥檚 Trespass, which was written for The Royal Ballet鈥檚 Metamorphosis: Titian project in 2012, and William Walton鈥檚 complex and symbolic ballet score and re-working of JS Bach鈥檚 cantatas in Frederick Ashton鈥檚 The Wise Virgins completes this enchanting programme at Watford Colosseum.
Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that as not everyone who asks for tickets uses them, to make sure we have a full house we send out more tickets than there are places.
