Tonight the 麻豆社 Philharmonic welcomes soloist Jennifer Pike for Max Bruch鈥檚 much-loved First Violin Concerto 鈥� the 鈥榬ichest鈥� and 鈥榤ost seductive鈥� of all the concertos for the instrument, according to 19th- century virtuoso Joseph Joachim. We also hear Anton铆n Dvo艡谩k鈥檚 New World Symphony, his ninth, composed during his time in America in the 1890s and featuring themes from spirituals and roots music. Ben Gernon conducts.
