About This Event

We鈥檙e dreaming of a dark Christmas. The night closes in, freezing mists swirl and even the crackle of the fire can鈥檛 quite dispel the shivers. From the ghosts of Christmas past, to the frights and delights of our own time, we鈥檙e out to hold you spellbound with an evening of words and music that evoke the ghostly atmosphere of midwinter at its spookiest.

Classic ghost stories from Dickens, Saki and Oscar Wilde mingle with dark new tales from Tony Walker and Anjali Patel 鈥 all brought eerily to life by the music of Saint-Sa毛ns, Vivaldi, Bart贸k and Gounod. Sounds to make the hair stand on end, and seasonal merriment too.

Readings by Alex Jennings and Sarah Niles, and music from the 麻豆社 Symphony Orchestra conducted by Karen N铆 Bhroin, with a special guest appearance by Jonathan Andrew Hume, recently seen in the Bridge Theatre's production of Guys and Dolls.

With readings of texts by Charles Dickens, Tony Walker, Algernon Blackwood, Anjali Patel, Saki and Oscar Wilde.

This concert is not suitable for children under the age of 12.
