Fake tan and body builders, flat caps and old factories, #Â鶹ÉçLocalPoets challenges the outdated clichés and celebrates all that is regionally distinctive about the North. Ian McMillan introduces a group of these spoken word poets, whose work pays homage to the culture, customs and unexpected delights of living in the North of England.

In partnership with National Poetry Day, each poet has teamed up with their Â鶹Éç Local Radio station to create a brand new commission on the theme of ‘Home Truths’.

The Â鶹Éç Local Poets are Jean Atkin, Alice Gretton, Theresa Lola, Molly Naylor, Nairobi Thompson, Timi Amusan, Warda Yassin, Jamie Thrasivolou, Kimwei McCarthy, Harry Gallagher, Jodie Langford, Jane Routh and Liv Torc.
