Copland鈥檚 cowboy ballet Rodeo is the colourful centrepiece to an upbeat programme from the 麻豆社 Symphony Orchestra and guest conductor Teddy Abrams. And nothing sets the toes tapping quite like the blazing fiddles of Copland鈥檚 irrepressible Hoe-Down

But first, wake up and smell the paprika in Hungary, where Bart贸k toasts the birthday of the city of Budapest with an exuberant garland of dances. And finally, a vision of hope, wonder and rebirth, as the young American composer Chelsea Komschlies paints the daybreak in all the colours of the full orchestra. 鈥淎 darkened orb, long dormant, and unseen by human eye / Begins to stir and wake at last, and glow within, and rise鈥︹�� This is music that glows in the ear.
