This year’s festival kicks off with Tchaikovsky’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’ Fantasy-Overture before Sol Gabetta performs Elgar’s Cello Concerto. Finally, hear one of the greatest cantatas of the 20th century – Prokofiev’s 'Alexander Nevsky'.

Tchaikovsky’s symphonic work inspired by The Tempest opens the Â鶹Éç Symphony Orchestra’s third Prom, before a world premiere by Anthony Payne and Ray Chen’s performance of Bruch’s Violin Concerto

Mahler’s ¸éü³¦°ì±ð°ù³Ù-³¢¾±±ð»å±ð°ù is paired with Mozart’s Mass in C minor – the ‘Great’. Soprano Carolyn Sampson and bass Matthew Rose are among the soloists. They’re joined by the Â鶹Éç Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Chorus and conducted by Ilan Volkov.

Tenor Juan Diego Flórez brings music by Verdi, Donizetti and Rossini to the Last Night. Also on the programme: Vaughan Williams’s Serenade to Music, Butterworth’s On the Banks of Green Willow and Britten’s Matinées musicales. Sakari Oramo conducts.
