The Gokstad ship
A land burial at Gokstad in southern Norway in which a 60-year-old male, believed to have held high status, had been buried with numerous goods including beds, gaming boards, sacrificed animals, and 3 smaller boats. The well preserved parts and fastenings of the ship made an important contribution to our understanding of Viking boat building traditions.

The Shtandart
The Shtandart was a Russian frigate of Tsar Peter the Great. Originally launched in 1703. A project to reconstruct the ship began in 1994 by Capt Vladimir Martous in St Petersburg. The new ship was launched in 1999 and serves as successful sail training ship.
