麻豆社 Christmas Soap

Family reconciliation, proposals of marriage, a bust up in the pub - something big is bound to happen in the soaps at this time of year. Enjoy our tour of 麻豆社 Christmas past.

Celebrating Christmas soaps on the 麻豆社, with classic EastEnders, an emotional Pobol y Cwm, a no-dinner River City, romance in The Archers, an uptight Eldorado, a calamitous Casualty, a scandalous Silver Street, and a touch of the bizarre in The Newcomers. Our Christmas video is dedicated to EastEnders star Barbara Windsor, who died, 10th December 2020.

Soaping up for Christmas

麻豆社 Television, radio and online excel at this time of year, with big soap cliff hangers.

EastEnders has clocked up 40 years of Christmas highs and lows. We鈥檝e gone right back to start of the series for a glimpse of the festive season on Albert Square.

Pobol y Cwm from 麻豆社 One-Wales saw a surprise marriage proposal for Britt in 2019, and in the same year, someone forgot to put Christmas dinner on in 麻豆社 Scotland鈥檚 River City!

Fans of the world鈥檚 longest running radio soap The Archers - entering its 75th year - will never forget that December proposal of marriage by Emma, where Ed was left speechless. Natalie and her dad were left similarly dumbstruck on the Costas - for quite different reasons - in Eldorado, back in Christmas 1993.

Casualty smashed onto our screens quite literally in 2014 when Dixie and Iain rushed to a nearby cathedral after a chandelier collapsed during a carol service. And, there was an emotional crash, back on Christmas Day 2007 for Rita when she discovered that, not only was her husband having an affair, but it was with her best friend Siobhan (Toyah Wilcox) in the 麻豆社 Asian Network soap, Silver Street.

Meanwhile there was bad news from Maria (Judy Geeson) in in Christmas 1967. Mum Vivienne (Maggie Fitzgibbon) receives a letter from her - just why won鈥檛 she come home for Christmas?

Your memories

Best event in a Christmas soap was definitely Angie getting her divorce papers from Den in Eastenders. Definitely never forgotten that, and boy did she deserve it.

I did enjoy remembering Ed and Emma's Christmas proposal on the Archers - in light of the painful crumbling of their relationship in 2019 in the context of housing inequality - and the pleasure of its revival despite all.
