Radio presenter

Seaside sound

We continue to follow Seaside Radio’s build up to full-time broadcasting.

The Withernsea based community station continues to prepare for full time broadcasting this summer.

Essential repairs to premises are being made, including new toilets and windows.

One local commercial radio station has offered to donate one of their current studios in around 18 months time. One of the biggest decisions to be made is where the broadcast studio should be built at their offices in Seaside Road.

A transmission survey to find out the best location for a transmitter is still the main focus of activities, as this has to be done before OFCOM will grant frequency and power. The cost of the survey is runs at several thousand pounds.

Lyz Turner, Project Manager said “Getting the five-year full-time licence has been a great boost for usâ€

But if they thought getting the licence was hard work, then now it's getting frantic. “We've already held our first presenters meeting for people interested in doing their own radio shows. Broadcasting is really costly, so we have to raise funds all the time, to enable everyone to get involved. Anyone wanting to help out is always welcome.â€

One of the changes which has already happened is the re launch of their website. It will enable them to do podcasts and live streaming of programmes and improve reliability.
