Tina Wylie, from North Frodingham, tied the knot in early February. Her father lives in a ranch in the south of the country; the traditional Maasai heartland.

Her Hull born father, Mike Wylie, has lived in the country since the mid-1980s and owns a company that runs safari tours.

As a regular visitor to the country over the years Tina sees Kenya as her 鈥渟econd home鈥� and wanted a ceremony that reflected both countries鈥� traditions.

鈥淚 wanted to integrate both cultures, so I asked my father to ask the local Maasai to attend my wedding.鈥�

The wedding party

Tina met her new husband Craig, after he helped fit a CD player in her car. The ceremony took place on her father鈥檚 ranch. She wore a white wedding dress with a traditional Maasai necklace. Less traditionally, she arrived at the ceremony in a helicopter.

Despite the recent violence and turmoil in Kenya, Tina feels that the wedding was a symbol of hope.

鈥淚t was one of the fairytale weddings where you could see two cultures together in harmony. With all the problems out there at the moment it was wonderful to get us all together.鈥�
