This
bay is made up of lots of small coves, which are sometimes hard to
find! At the northern end of the bay is the breakwater, where there
is a very popular cafe.

CATHERINE'S BAY
parking:
Parking
is very limited. There is a car park at the breakwater, but the only
other option is to park in small lay-bys or on the roadside.
refreshments:
There
is an excellent cafe at the breakwater, but it does get very busy.
toilets:
At
the breakwater and at the Gibraltar slip (towards the other end of
the bay).
swimming:
Only
for competent swimmers at high tide, as the water is quite deep, but
usually calm. At low tide the water stays shallow for quite a distance.
sunshine:
As
it's east facing, many spots lose the sun quite early in the afternoon.
shelter:
Well
protected from prevailing westerly winds, but not so good when the
easterly winds blow.
sand:
Most
of the coves are shingle, and what sand there is usually remains wet.
beach
sports:
Canoeing
is popular here, and the slipway is good for dinghies and other small
craft.

Lorraine C Lovely place to visit especially the ex-German Bunker now turned into the Genuine Jersey Turbot Farm. Dave the owner is extremely friendly and gives tours inside the bunker. Really impressive!
Anna, Jersey:
Very happy now that the cafe has re-opened for summer. Excellent food. Well
worth the wait if it's busy. Lovely atmosphere.
