Here are some quality standards, which can be used
when putting visuals together.
OHTs -TEXT
- 1 topic per visual
- Maximum 4 facts
- Letters large enough for all to read (you could try 24 point)
- Block items into groups
- Using CAPS is the equivalent of shouting
Electronic Slide Shows
- Use 'build' sequences for complex topics. By adding 1 item at a time, you
control the pace of the presentation
- Avoid using verbs (action words) and articles (a, an, the) that aren't
necessary to the message
Images
- Do not mix topics -focus on 1 point with each visual
- Use only one font family, and keep the number of sizes you use to 3 or
less
Charts and Graphs
- Keep graphs simple -audiences should be able to get the point straight away
- Make your point in the title. Rather than 'Smoking Health Statistics', try
'Smoking Kills!'
