Q18.

A garden measures 180 feet by 60 feet. How much is that in acres?
1 acre = 4840 square yards. 1 yard = 3 feet.

Answer and commentary
180 feet = 180 ÷ 3 = 60 yards
60 feet = 60 ÷ 3 = 20 yards
So, the garden is 60 x 20 = 1200 square yards.
In acres that is 1200 ÷ 4840 = 0.247933...
To two decimal places that is 0.25 i.e. a quarter of an acre.

Answer: 0.25 (or a quarter) acres.
