INTRODUCTION

If you are an English Language tutor, you will already be setting work to meet the AS/A2 specifications. It is possible to tie this work in to meet the criteria for Key Skills subjects. This has a number of advantages ...

Students working together
Your own workload is not significantly increased.
The student's workload is not significantly increased, if at all.
The student's experience of the subject is enhanced.
Students are unlikely to resent doing the work, as they will see it as integral to their AS/A2 qualification.
Students gain extra credit for work done as part of their AS/A2 course.

Two birds killed with one stone!

The following pages outline an exercise to use in the classroom, which meets criteria for both AS/A2 and Key Skills Level 3 Communication. You will be presented with the notes for the exercise first, followed by handouts and exercise instructions to download, print and hand out to your students.
