Je
rappelle..., Je vais rappeler..., Je rappellerai... |
|
|
Je rappelle dans
cinq minutes.
I'll call
back in five minutes.
Je vais rappeler
dans cinq minutes.
I'll call
back in five minutes.
Je rappellerai plus
tard.
I'll call
back later.
All three examples mean
basically the same thing: that the caller will ring back later. They express an
intention or probability in the future.
There are three ways of doing this in French:
- using the present tense:
je rappelle dans
cinq minutes - (literally) I call, I'm calling
back...
- using the verb
aller, to go, plus the infinitive of the other
verb:
je vais rappeler
dans cinq minutes - I'm going to call back...
- using the future tense:
je rappellerai plus
tard - I will call back...
In the first sentence the
intention or probability that the caller will ring back is very high, in the
second sentence it is less so and in the last sentence it is even less obvious.
