ich, mich, Sie, Ihnen

Ich schicke den Volontär.
Ìý I am sending the trainee.

(Es) freut mich.
ÌýPleased to meet you,
(literally It pleases me).
Und wer sind Sie?
ÌýAnd who are you?

Wie geht es Ihnen?
ÌýHow are you
(literally How is it going for you)?

Ich, mich, Sie and Ihnen are personal pronouns, meaning, respectively, I, me, you (formal) and to, for you (formal).

Note how ich changes to mich and Sie changes to Ihnen; ich can also change to mir, eg das ist mir gelungen. These different forms are called cases.
