People

As Liverpool passes on the Capital of Culture title, people look forward to 2009.

On Saturday 10th January, the people of Liverpool gathered at the famous waterfront to celebrate the passing of the title of European City of Culture to Linz and Vilnius.

Cultural leader Phil Redmond acknowledged that the city still has a lot of regeneration work to do but insisted that the transition was the beginning of a cultural renaissance.

"This transition event tonight, it's not closing, it's not finale, it's the beginning of the future,"said Redmond.
