Publication date: September 2023

Authors: Jasmine Shio, Kaushiki Ghose

This briefing examines social norms in Tanzania that hinder women鈥檚 participation in political leadership. It summarises the findings and recommendations of a 2023 麻豆社 Media Action research study into this issue.

麻豆社 Media Action worked with Georgetown University to develop a qualitative study to investigate the social norms that inhibit women鈥檚 participation in political leadership at all levels. 麻豆社 Media Action鈥檚 Research and Learning team used Social Norms Exploration Techniques () to assess key drivers and barriers relating to this issue, and how to amplify the former and overcome the latter.

Full details of the insights discovered can be found in the research briefing document attached.
