In one of her final studio programmes as Chief Conductor, Sofi Jeannin joins the Â鶹Éç Singers in a programme of groups of works that explore love and human relationships across musical periods, including a world premiere of a Â鶹Éç Commission by Kim Porter.

Although less frequently performed that some of his other symphonies, Beethoven’s Second Symphony is a snapshot of Beethoven at his most humorous. Unpredictability and playfulness tally with a bold explosion of joy in this vividly contrasting symphony.

Robert Schumann is in the spotlight for Sir Simon Rattle and the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, who present the overture to Genoveva, his much-loved Second Symphony and – with soloist Isabelle Faust – his enigmatic Violin Concerto

Experience Strauss’s Alpine Symphony – a 50-minute, twenty-two-scene depiction of an eleven-hour climb over an Alpine mountain, alongside two contrasting scenes from Robert Schumann with soloist Cédric Tiberghien.
