Mötley Crüe (IPA pronunciation: ['mot-lee kru]) is a popular American heavy metal band from Los Angeles, California. The band is made up of Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee, Mick Mars, and Vince Neil.
Mötley Crüe is considered one of the most successful American Glam metal and hard rock bands, having sold over 42 million albums worldwide and 24 million records in the US alone. Their ninth studio album is due to be released sometime in 2008....

- 1981 Release first single and album on their own label
- 1982 Sign to Elektra who remix and reissue the album
- 1982 Canadian tour is marked by PR stunts involving bomb threats, smuggled pornography and hotel vandalism
- 1984 Neil is charged with vehicular manslaughter
- 1987 Sixx nearly dies after a heroin overdose. Most of the band enter rehab
- 1992 Neil leaves in mysterious circumstances but rejoins in 1997
- 1998 The band take ownership of the rights to their back catalogue
- 1999 Lee leaves. The band take a hiatus soon after
