Your pictures: Open spaces

Every week we publish a gallery of readers' pictures on a set theme. This week the theme was open space. Christopher McIntosh took this picture along Kougarok Road, while hiking up Anvil Mountain in Nome, Alaska.

Vishal Shah: "I captured this photo on the way back from an afternoon safari in Africa. These trees stood out from the sea of grass."

David Hunt: "This gentleman was relaxing in the evening sun in front of the De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill, East Sussex."

Guy Sneyers: "A view of Il Campo as seen from the Torre di Mangia, part of the Palazzo Publico in Siena, Italy. An open space in a medieval city of narrow, winding streets."

Allen Sharpe: "Jumping while hiking in the mountains of Denali National Park and Reserve, Alaska. It was an amazing experience".

Sharif Ali: "Workers on top of a high-rise construction site in Male, Maldives."

Budi Arief: "A view of the open sea from one of the piers at the Ribersborgs beach near Malmo, Sweden."

Tim Gallon: "I didn't want to submit the obvious for this subject. As I was cleaning out some clutter in the kitchen I came across a container of coloured straws. I thought the holes between the straws could be construed as open spaces."

Matt Stirnmastirn: "Here is a photo I took on a recent trip to Egypt."

And finally, a diorama at the California Academy of Sciences, San Francisco, taken by Daniel Furon. Further details and terms can be seen on the photo blog, just follow the link below.
