After weeks of squeezed-in lessons and sore feet, Â鶹Éç Norfolk's Dancers In Need can hang up their ballroom shoes, happy in the knowledge that they've boosted the Children In Need 2008 appeal by more than £3000.

Twelve Â鶹Éç radio and television personalities took to the floor in the Forum, Norwich, on Sunday, 9 November, 2008, to raise money for the children's charity.

Teamed with partners from the Miller Dance Centre in Norwich, each personality performed a Jive and a Foxtrot in front of a sell-out audience of 260 people.

The evening saw Look East breakfast presenter Jenny Kirk emerge triumphant. Jenny andÌýher partner Bruce Bentley wowed the judges with their Cha Cha Cha in the final round, seeing off other finalists such as Look East's Amelia Reynolds and Â鶹Éç Radio Norfolk's Nanette Aldous.

The judges – Richard Miller of the Miller Dance Centre; Xavier Navarre, a dance teacher; Carol Spenser, a fashion stylist; and the Lord Mayor of Norwich, Jeremy Hooke were full of praise for the dancer's efforts.

There were words of encouragement from Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Darren Bennett and judge Craig Revel Horwood. In a pre-recorded message, Darren reminded the audience that the Â鶹Éç dancers had received about ten hours of lessons, compared with more than 30 hours a week for their celebrity counterparts in the television show.

As City College Norwich hair and make-up trainees put the finishing touches to the dancers, the Jonathan Wyatt Big Band struck up, filling the Forum with sound. Weeks of training were finally put to the test as the broadcasters stepped out.

Treasure Quest presenter Becky Betts and Â鶹Éç Radio Norfolk's Karen Buchanan intend to keep on dancing, while others, including breakfast presenter Stephen Bumfrey and Karen's co-presenter Graham Barnard say they'll be happy to stay as wallflowers in future.
