Sometimes you feel happy and sometimes you feel sad. Can you tell if someone else is happy or sad? How does that make you feel? If someone feels sad how can you make them feel a bit better?

Why do I feel sad when my friend feels sad?

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS What makes you feel happy/sad? Who/what makes you feel better again? What makes your mummy feel happy/sad? How can you make her feel better? Do you feel sad when someone else is sad? Why? Do you know anyone who has been to the hospital? Did you try to cheer them up? How did you do that?

Role PlayHospital play - find ways of making people feel better - make cards, make flowers, sing a happy song

DoughMake a flower, fruit, or some other item as a gift to help someone feel better

Puppets2 puppets - one takes on the role of someone who is not feeling well, is hurt, or has lost something they can't find, and the other finds ways to make them feel better

Outdoor PlayWhat happens when someone falls and hurts him or herself or gets stuck on the climbing frame? How can we help that person feel better?
