Activities You Can Do in the Classroom: Below are some suggestions for how the theme that everyone is special can be incorporated into areas of play.

Large/Small Group TimeCome into the circle if you have long/short hair, etc. Cross the circle if you like ... bananas/football/dogs/cats, etc.
"I know Helen has a dog, so have I" (throw/roll a ball between the two children)

Interest Table/DisplaysUse photographs and descriptive stories to talk about similarities and differences. For each image, find something special and unique.
Sort animals for differences and similarities. What makes each animal special and unique?

Small World PlayAdd some figures depicting disability to small world play

Role PlayHave children explore the pre-school using a wheelchair
