Huw Kidwell
Does'nt it seem a little strange to be closing a perfectly good sugar processing plant. The infrastructure of which could be used for a bioethanol or biobutanol production plant with some investment such as is being done at Wissington in Norfolk or indeed in Saltend in Hull. Apparently with the governments renewable transport fuel obligation coming into force in 2008 we will be needing all the biofuel we can get to achieve the 5% target. Why close York?

My dad was pleased to be asked to deliver the last load into the sugar beet factory, as my grandad had been going for 50 years and my dad continued to go.
