The bat detectors

Bat enthusiasts take us on a hunt for nocturnal flying mammals.

Michael Walker, of the South Nottinghamshire Bat Group, is passionate about bats.

He's keen to educate the public about bats.

Protected

All bats in Britain are now protected by the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.

The South Notts Bat Group and the North Notts Bat Group are both dedicated to the conservation of bats in Nottinghamshire.

Their volunteers record bat distribution, survey roost sites, give talks on bat conservation, organise bat walks, care for injured bats and arrange training for members working towards their roost visitors licence.
