Back in February 2009 five members of staff here at Â鶹Éç Nottingham were persuaded to take part in one of the marathon relays.

At that point, September 13 seemed an age away, they thought there was plenty of time to train.

However, it's not quite worked out like that...

Only if I'm going to have to hop the whole five miles.

Mark Faulkner wants a downhill bit to do

Why did you agree to do the relay?Ìý
Emotional blackmail and my dad did the half marathon a couple of years ago and doesn't let me forget it. I also thought it would help get me into training.

How's the training?Ìý
Not so great! I've done a few runs of three miles and have just about managed to not collapse. I've been going hill walking quite a bit but I'm hoping that adrenalin will get me through.

Which leg do you want to do?Ìý
The downhill one, is there one?

Neil Heath

Neil works as a journalist on the Â鶹Éç Nottingham website. It was his idea.

Why did you agree to do the relay?
I thought it would be fun and a challenge. It's less than the half marathon and more than the fun run, so a happy medium... I hope!

Physical pursuits get Neil down

How's the training?Ìý
Random. I've averaged a weekly three mile run and I think I can extend it to five or six.

Which leg do you want to do?Ìý
Ideally I would have taken the first or the last but since I'm the one that got us into this I've offered to do leg four, which is six miles. I'm so kind, or stupid.

Any regrets?ÌýÌý
Well, just wish I had done a little more training.

Rebecca Brice

Becky is a reporter at Â鶹Éç Radio Nottingham.

Why did you agree to do the relay?
I ran a 10K for another radio station three years ago and really enjoyed the experience and the exhilaration of completing the course in a reasonable time. Also, when Neil suggested it I bought a Â鶹Éç Radio Nottingham running club T-shirt - which I've never worn so I just felt guilty.

How's the training?Ìý
Training is sporadic at the moment and seems to be dependant on weather, and if I have been on an early shift or not!

Becky has joined a dance class

I've ran round Holme Pierrepont's regatta lake which is three miles and managed not to pass out, however the thought of a further two miles made me wince.

ÌýI've joined a dance class, which obviously has nothing to do with running but I believe it's improving my stamina and reminds me I'm not totally rubbish at exercise!

Which leg do you want to do?Ìý
When I decided to enter the relay I did want the final leg with all the glory and cheering. I now want a leg where no-one will see me crawling.

Any regrets?
Never regret the things you do, only the things you don't. However, at the moment I'm not totally convinced of that mantra.
