Dead
Ringers returns – don't accept imitations
Public figures take cover! Dead Ringers returns to Â鶹Éç TWO on Monday
7 July with unnervingly accurate impressions of those at the forefront
of public attention.
Jon
Culshaw, Jan Ravens, Phil Cornwell, Kevin Connelly and Mark Perry
take on the faces of the familiar with a certain Dead Ringer twist.
Ellen
MacArthur (Jan Ravens) can be seen battling against the odds as
she circumnavigates the spare room with the vacuum cleaner and copes
with the pain of a red t-shirt in the white wash in her challenge
to bravely take on the housework.
In
response to the American remake of The Italian Job there is the
American remake of Carry On Matron with Arnold Schwarzenegger (Jon
Culshaw) as Sid James.
David
Dimbleby (Kevin Connelly) puts in an appearance commentating movingly
at the funeral of Mr Nibbles, a much-loved hamster.
New
characters include Ricky Gervais (Jon Culshaw), Fiona Bruce (Jan
Ravens), Dirty Den (Phil Cornwall) and Kirsty Allsop and Phil Spencer
from Location Location Location.
There
is also the return of such favourites as John Prescott (Mark Perry),
Kirsty Wark (Jan Ravens) and Johnny Vegas (Jon Culshaw).
The
team face the ultimate challenge by filming each episode just days
before transmission to make sure the sketches and impressions really
are of the people in the headlines.
The
producer of Dead Ringers is Gareth Edwards. It is written with sure-fire
wit by Nev Fountain, Tom Jamieson and Jon Holmes, who are also the
writers of the original Radio 4 hit.
