Âé¶¹Éç Scotland secures rights to transmit Edinburgh 50,000 The Final Push Concert

Âé¶¹Éç Scotland has won the UK rights to transmit coverage of the Edinburgh 50,000 The Final Push concert from Edinburgh's Murrayfield Stadium on Wednesday 6 July.

Coverage of the show, which takes place on the first day of the G8 summit in Gleneagles, will be on television, radio and online.

Ìý

News of the agreement follows the announcement that the Âé¶¹Éç will be the host broadcaster for the Live 8 event four days earlier at Hyde Park.

Ìý

Among the performers who have signed up for the Edinburgh concert are Texas, Travis, Annie Lennox, Snow Patrol, Ronan Keating, McFly, the Sugababes and Midge Ure.

Comedians Lenny Henry and Peter Kay will host the free concert which will be attended by up to 60,000 people.

Maggie Cunningham, Joint Head of Programmes and Services at Âé¶¹Éç Scotland, says: "We are delighted that we will be bringing the best of Edinburgh 50,000 The Final Push to our audiences on television, radio and online.

"Our extensive coverage will ensure that millions more will be able to enjoy all the performances."

Ìý

Scottish Radio Holdings have secured the rights for commercial radio coverage.

Ìý

On 2 July, there will be coverage across Âé¶¹Éç ONE, TWO and THREE as well as Âé¶¹Éç Radios 1 and 2 and the Âé¶¹Éç World Service from Hyde Park.

Ìý

The Âé¶¹Éç will work alongside other broadcasters in Europe and America to bring the huge international event to the world.

Ìý

Concerts will take place simultaneously in London, Paris, Berlin, Rome and Philadelphia.
