New CÂ鶹Éç controller Alison Sharman has made her first Sunday teatime drama commission with an adaptation of Terry Pratchett's best-selling novel, Johnny and the Bomb.

Starring Zoe Wanamaker, Frank Finlay and Keith Barron, Johnny and the Bomb comes from the makers of the award- winning CÂ鶹Éç dramas Feather Boy and Stig of the Dump.

Also in the cast are John Henshaw (Early Doors) and Felicity Montagu (Alan Partridge).

When Johnny Maxwell and his friends come across mysterious old bag lady Mrs Tachyon in an alleyway, they soon realise there is more to her than a squeaky trolley and a bunch of black bags.

As Johnny gets to know her, he realises that she holds the key to different times - including the Blackbury Blitz of 1941.

Suddenly now isn't the safe place he once thought it was as he finds himself caught up more and more with then.

The third title in Pratchett's Johnny Maxwell trilogy, Johnny and the Bomb has been adapted for television by Peter Tabern, winner of an International Emmy and the Bafta Children's Writer award for his adaptation of Stig of the Dump in 2001.

Executive produced for the Â鶹Éç by Head of CÂ鶹Éç Drama, Jon East, Johnny and the Bomb is being filmed on location in South Wales.
