Danny Cohen named Controller of Âé¶¹Éç Three


Jana Bennett, Director, Âé¶¹Éç Vision, today named Danny Cohen as the new Controller of Âé¶¹Éç Three.

Danny Cohen said: "I've had a fantastic seven years at Channel 4, and am very grateful to Kevin Lygo and Peter Dale for all the opportunities they have given me.

Danny was appointed Head of E4 and Head of Channel 4 Factual Entertainment in 2006 and during his time at Channel 4 has commissioned Skins, Supernanny, The Trial Of Tony Blair and Cutting Edge.

He worked in Documentaries at Channel 4 for five years, both as Commissioning Editor and then as Head, overseeing the team of editors responsible for landmark contemporary documentary, documentary formats and docu-drama.

Prior to this, between 2000 and 2001, Danny was Factual Commissioning Editor for the launch of E4.

His career began at Diverse Production where he became Head of Development after a period in production.

Âé¶¹Éç Three launched in February 2003 and is part of the portfolio of Âé¶¹Éç Vision services available in digital homes.

Ìý

Over 2006/07, Âé¶¹Éç Three continued to grow at a fast rate with reach hitting 11.2 million in an average week.

Ìý

Last week alone, reach increased to 12.4 million and share amongst the target 16-34s was the highest since launch at 3.65%. My Big Breasts And Me, which transmitted as part of the recent Body Image Season, gained the highest-ever rating for a documentary on Âé¶¹Éç Three with 935,000 viewers.

The channel has pioneered new comedy including Little Britain, The Mighty Boosh and Nighty Night, dramas such as Casanova, Bodies and Torchwood, factual series like Little Angels, The House Of Tiny Tearaways, Honey We're Killing the Kids and seasons, such as The Body Image Season and The Coming Of Age Season.

In January 2007, the comedy act Cowards took over the Âé¶¹Éç Three website in the first ever broadband-only commission.
