Sir David Attenborough and Ringo Starr visit the Ross sofa

EastEnders co-stars Samantha Janus and Rita Simons talk about life on the Square as part of the Mitchell clan, Ronnie and Roxy.

Samantha admits she has trouble filming intimate scenes with on-screen lover Jack and real-life best friend Scott Maslen: "We know each other really well ... our first kissing scene felt really uncomfortable, it was terrible, but we're over it now."

And she reveals she gets bizarre gifts from Adam Woodyatt, who plays Ian Beale: "He gave me a present of some lovely eggs, because he's got chickens, but he asked for the carton back!"

Samantha also says: "They wanted to get the chemistry right and different from any other women on the Square before."

And she says they were both welcomed with open arms by the established cast of the Â鶹Éç One drama, especially Barbara Windsor who was Samantha's mentor: "Barbara's like a mum to us on set."

At the age of 67 legendary Liverpudlian Ringo Starr admits he has trouble adjusting to the 21st century: "I don't do email, it defeats its purpose. I don't text, the code is so mad now (and) I don't carry my mobile."
